WHAT "NIXLE"
MEANS TO JEFFERSON COUNTY AND PORT TOWNSEND . . . |

A messaging technology (called NIXLE)
is being used in Jefferson County to send local alerts and advisories
directly to subscribers. A text-enabled cell phone or mobile
device is all you need to receive ALERTS and
ADVISORIES notices.
There is no charge for this service (the normal text message fees that
your phone service may charge may apply).
Messages via NIXLE are
from a certified
source. Our NIXLE account is JEFFERSON
COUNTY WA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT. When you subscribe
to this account, you will only receive verified messages from the Dept.
of Emergency Management. With NIXLE text messages you'll know
as soon as we know!

WHAT MESSAGES WILL BE

The Department of Emergency Management is
the "gatekeeper" for local NIXLE messages.
Agencies using NIXLE include the Jefferson County Sheriff's
Office, Port Townsend Police Department, and County and City
government. NIXLE will also be used to relay important information
from other emergency response agencies as needed, such as local fire
departments.

Messages of general community or
neighborhood interest; not news releases that can be circulated by
routine means; lowest priority; "other" notices. |

NIXLE web site with the full text of the message. You will also
